The Doctor’s Chamber hosting the 32nd ZEVA Symposium

The Doctor’s Chamber of the Republic of North Macedonia is hosting this year's ZEVA Symposium, which takes place on the 5th and 6th of September 2025, at the 'Limak' hotel in Skopje. The representatives of medical chambers from 11 countries of Central and Southeastern Europe have taken participation in the event, discussing crucial topics on the development of the medical profession and the healthcare systems.
The symposium addresses four main topics that are of great importance to the future of the healthcare system and the medical chambers. The first session has been dedicated to the introduction of the artificial intelligence in medicine, specifically in regard to how inovative technologies can improve the diagnostics, the treatment, and the administration in healthcare system. In the second session, the discussion referred to the role of young doctors and their involvement in the functioning of the chambers. The third session was focused on the involvement of the chambers in planning the activities for the healthcare personnel, as well as in the strategies that are applied in different countries in order to improve the efficiency in managing human resources in one healthcare system. Special attention was also given to the recognition of medical degrees from foreign countries, as this is important for the mobility of doctors and cooperation between countries.
“The ZEVA Symposium is an event of significant importance for the reason that it serves as a platform for exchange of experiences and knowledge among medical chambers from several countries, which assists in creating proposals for the improvement of the healthcare system. Regarding the artificial intelligence, which is increasingly present in medicine, everyone agrees that the medical chambers must be involved in creating regulations for its usage. Austria and Germany are countries the positive experiences can be drawn from, where state-level systems for its application are already installed. We need to established rules to protect doctors and patients from potential errors of artificial intelligence", emphasized Prof. Dr. Kalina Grivcheva Stardelova, president of the Doctor’s Chamber.
Apart from Austria and Serbia, reports on the situation in other countries have also been presented by representatives from Germany, Croatia, Poland, Romania, Czech Republic, Hungary, Albania, and Montenegro. A representative of the Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME) also participated in the Symposium, presenting the activities of this organization which represents the voice of 1.7 million doctors from 37 European countries.
At the beginning of the event, the participants received a warm welcome by the Minister of Health, Mr. Azir Aliu.
The ZEVA Symposium is an annual event organized for the support, promotion, and expanding the role and the activities of the chamber associations, to exchange experiences and opinions, as well as to take stands and provide suggestions within their field of functioning, but also in order to improve the healthcare system and ensure a quality and an accessible healthcare for the population. This year, we have organized the 32nd Symposium, which is the fifth event of this kind held in our country. Next year, the host of ZEVA shall be the Austrian Medical Chamber.
